Portuguese Pedro Lencart contributed three and a half points out of four (three wins and a draw in four matches) for the Continental European team in triumph over the British-Irish in the 50th edition of the Jacques Léglise Trophy, which took place on two days at the Ballybunion Golf Club in Ireland, with nine players on each side. The ace of the Miramar Golf Club became the second Portuguese to win the competition, 11 years after Pedro Figueiredo (2006, in Marianzke Lazne, Czech Republic). Lencart, who two weeks ago had become the second Portuguese to win The Boys Amateur Championship, nine years after ... Pedro Figueiredo, his childhood idol. As a result of the 25 matches played - eight in pairs in foursomes, 17 in singles - the final result was 15.5-9.5 in favor of the “Continental team”, which repeats the success of previous edition, heldat The Prince’s Golf Club in England. On both occasions they were led by their non-playing captain Jeroen Stevens of the Netherlands. Lencart was the player who added the most points to the Continental team, who also had Alejandro Aguilera Martin (Spain), Markus Braadlie (Norway), Adrien Dumont of Chassart (Belgium), Falko Hanisnch (Germany), Rasmus Hojgaard (Denmark), Matias Honkala (Finland), David Nyfjall (Sweden), and Eduard Rousaud Sabbate (Spain).

O craque do Club de Golf de Miramar torna-se assim o segundo português a vencer a competição, 11 anos depois de Pedro Figueiredo (2006, em Marianzke Lazne, na República Checa). Ele que já há duas semanas se tornara o segundo português a vencer o The Boys Amateur Championship, nove anos depois de… Pedro Figueiredo, o seu ídolo juvenil. No cômputo dos 25 jogos realizados – oito de pares em foursomes, 17 em singulares – o resultado final saldou-se em 15,59,5 a favor dos “continentais”, que repetem o êxito da edição passada no The Prince’s Golf Club, em Inglaterra, em ambas as ocasiões liderados pelo seu capitão não-jogador, o holandês Jeroen Stevens.
