Golf Days 2018
The championship course at the Estoril Golf Club hosted the second stage of the Circuito Golf Days, in the middle of May, this time sponsored by the Golfino clothing brand. A brand of German origin, recognized by superior quality and innovative design, which has a large part of its production done in Portugal. On a real spring day, and with the course in excellent condition, the 80 registered players (half were club members) started on strategically selected holes in order to have a balance between handicaps and their arrival at the clubhouse after the round, in the greatest possible harmony. In competitive terms and for the second consecutive year the Estoril G.C. player, José Sousa e Melo, was the winner in the Gross category with 33 points leaving the competition at close range, but without a chance to dispute the victory. In the Ladies, participation was increased with 11 golfers at the start. It would be expected a little competition for most of them to be players of the Club, but Kate Scheier dominated closing her round with 42 Net points leaving her adversaries at a great distance. In men, two categories were in contention. Victory in Category A Net went to Antonio E.S. Ricciardi with 38 points followed by Abílio Gonçalves with 37 points, representing the Estoril G.C. and the Barmens Association of Portugal.
Ochampionship course do Clube de Golfe do Estoril recebeu a meio de maio a segunda etapa do Circuito Golf Days, desta feita apoiada pela marca de vestuário Golfino. Uma marca de origem alemã, que tem grande parte da sua produção feita em Portugal, reconhecida pela qualidade superior e pelo design inovador. Num verdadeiro dia de primavera, e com o campo a apresentar excelentes condições, os 80 jogadores inscritos (metade eram sócios do Clube), saíram estrategicamente de buracos selecionados de forma a existir um equilíbrio entre handicaps e a chegada ao clubhouse na maior sintonia possível. Em termos competitivos e pelo segundo ano consecutivo o jogador do C.G. Estoril, José Sousa e Melo, foi o vencedor na categoria Gross com 33 pontos deixando a concorrência a curta distância, mas sem hipóteses de discutir a vitória. Nas Senhoras a participação foi elevada com 11 jogadoras à partida, sendo que seria de esperar uma acesa competição pela sua maioria serem jogadoras do Clube, mas Kate Scheier dominou fechando a sua volta com 42 pontos Net deixando as adversárias a grande distância. Nos homens, onde estava em disputa duas categorias, a vitória na Categoria A Net foi para António E.S. Ricciardi com 38 pontos seguido de Abílio Gonçalves com 37 pontos, respetcivamente do C.G. Estoril e da Associação de Barmens de Portugal.
In Category B, higher handicaps, victory smiled on Manuel Orlando Garcia of Architects G.C. with 35 points, followed by Manuel Caldeira Ordaz of Xira Golf with 32 points.MAll these players secured their presence at the final on October 20th at West Cliffs, Óbidos. By lottery Verena Wolffer and Jose Lino Dores did also. To liven up the tournament there were skills competitions, a generous contribution of prizes and a fantastic lunch served in the Clubhouse overlooking the sea and Estoril. The next tournament will take place on June 16th at Pestana Vila Sol, Algarve. Na Categoria B, handicaps mais altos, a vitória sorriu a Manuel Orlando Garcia do C.G. Arquitetos com 35 pontos, seguido de Manuel Caldeira Ordaz do Xira Golfe com 32 pontos. Todos estes jogadores garantiram a sua presença na final de 20 de Outubro em West Cliffs, Óbidos. Por sorteio irão igualmente Verena Wolffer e José Lino Dores. A animar o torneio houve competições skills, uma generosa tombola de prémios e um fantástico almoço serviço no Clubhouse com vistas para o mar e para o Estoril. O próxima torneio realiza-se a 16 de Junho no Pestana Vila Sol, Algarve.
