THE 19TH ESGA MAS­TERS CUP AND SU­PER MAS­TERS CUP 75+ TOOK PLACE ON THE AROEIRA I AND II COUR­SES, WITH THE UK WIN­NING THE MAIN EVENT, THE CHAM­PI­ONSHIP. IN THE CUP VIC­TORY FOR ITALY AND THE SU­PER MAS­TERS 75+ TO GER­MANY. THE POR­TUGUESE TEAM OB­TAINED A BRIL­LIANT 3RD PLACE IN THE CUP.

In the Cup (Net), which took place on Aroeira II, Por­tu­gal had a dis­creet start, but on the sec­ond day as­cended to third place and­main­tained this po­si­tion un­til the end. Na Cup (net), que decor­reu no Aroeira II, Por­tu­gal teve um in­í­cio mais dis­creto, mas no se­gundo dia as­cen­deu ao ter­ceiro lu­gar, man­tendo esta posição até fi­nal. A seleção portuguesa que dis­putou a Cup foi con­sti­tuída por José Gameiro (capitão), Rui Pe­drosa Fon­seca, Jorge Frazão, Joaquim Ze­ferino, Miguel Ra­malho Or­tigão e Manuel Moura, tendo al­cançado uma pon­tu­ação nos três dias de prova de 231 pon­tos, menos 1 que a vice campeã, a Es­panha, e menos dois pon­tos que a vence­dora do torneio, a Itália, que so­mou 232 pon­tos. “Foi um re­sul­tado que pode­ria ter sido mel­hor, dado que o fa­tor casa era uma mais valia para os nos­sos jo­gadores, mas o certo é que as out­ras se­leções tam­bém tiveram opor­tu­nidade de se fa­mil­iar­izar com o campo, pois além do dia de treino, muitas de­las vieram uns dias antes da prova, aprovei­tando a opor­tu­nidade para jog­a­rem e con­hecerem este campo”, afir­maram os jo­gadores por­tugue­ses.

The win­ners were hon­ored at the clos­ing din­ner for these Euro­pean Cham­pi­onships and the tro­phies were dis­trib­uted to the win­ning teams and the ESGA flag was passed by Pres­i­dent Georges Gev­ers, to the Cap­tain of Swe­den, the or­ga­niz­ing coun­try in 2019, of the XX ESGA Mas­ter Team Cham­pi­onship & Cup. No Cham­pi­onship (gross), no Aroeira I, como ha­bit­ual­mente, dis­putaram os primeiros lu­gares desta prova rainha dos Campeonatos, os ha­bit­u­ais e po­ten­ci­ais vence­dores, to­dos jo­gadores com hand­i­caps muito baixos, tendo-se sagrado vence­dora a seleção do Reino Unido, seguida da Sué­cia e da Es­panha. O jo­gador Neil Hughes (UK) fez uma se­gunda volta de uma pan­cada gross abaixo do par do campo, tendo sido o mel­hor jo­gador do torneio. A seleção portuguesa obteve o 10º lu­gar en­tre as 14 se­leções con­cor­rentes. Quanto à equipa de Por­tu­gal nos Su­per Mas­ters Cup 75+, obteve a 5º posição com 78 pon­tos, menos 8 que a vence­dora, a Alemanha, seguida da República Checa e da Sué­cia, am­bas com 82 pon­tos. A con­sagração dos vence­dores foi feita no jan­tar de encer­ra­mento destes Campeonatos da Europa, tendo sido dis­tribuí­dos os troféus às equipas vence­do­ras e pas­sado o teste­munho, a ban­deira da ESGA, pelo Pres­i­dente Georges Gev­ers, ao capitão da seleção da Sué­cia, país or­ga­ni­zador, em 2019, dos XX ESGA Mas­ter Team Cham­pi­onship & Cup.
