WHEN AGE IS A RANK

GOLFE - - CLUB NEWS -

The businessman Henrique Duarte, who has been involved in golf for decades, has created the ‘Age is a rank’ tournament with the goal of bringing together people who have also been involved in golf for many years. The initiative, which took place at Quinta do Peru and ended in a lively lunch, brought together many veterans of golf in Portugal, from professionals to past and current leaders. As a curiosity, each was assigned a handicap equal to the years he was involved in golf. “As of this year I have been working in the golf industry for 30 years . When I started there were twenty courses in Portugal and now we have more than 80. And the best way to celebrate would be to have a tournament with people who have more than 30 years in golf,” said Henrique Duarte to Golf Portugal & Islands. For this tournament greenkeepers, directors, professionals and others connected to golf, such as Manuel Agrellos (Honorary President of PGF) and António Carmona Santos (businessman and connected to the construction and administration of Quinta do Lago, representative in Portugal of European circuits, etc.) were invited. The winner of the tournament was Tony Barnabé, who played with a 55 handicap (so many years in golf), followed by António Dantas and Pedro Silvestre. The second tournament will take place in early summer and will be part of the 25th anniversary celebrations at the NAU Group course near Albufeira.
