ENGLISH COLLEGE IN ALGARVE
An English university that includes golf on its school curriculum “moved” to the Algarve for nine weeks from January to March to continue the youth education program away from the harsh winter in Britain. The College, in Sussex, has moved 47 young students, accompanied by golf teachers and other disciplines to the Castro Marim Golf Resort. The facilities of the former clubhouse were transformed into classrooms during the day. The English delegation is also housed at Castro Marim Golf. The young students are divided into groups and throughout the day, between 08:00 and 17:30, participate in successive sessions and all play at least 18 holes on the course. While some are on the course, others train with the coaches or participate in more intensive sessions, in the areas where they are struggling, and then go to the course. Another group of older students is carrying out an identical program in Islantilla (Spain), a few kilometers from Castro Marim. Sometimes the two groups of students exchange their training place, the younger ones moving to play in Islantilla, with the coachs, while the older ones play in Castro Marim. The College signed a contract with the Algarve resort until 2022.
Uma universidade inglesa que inclui o golfe no seu currículo escolar “transferiu-se” para o Algarve durante nove semanas, entre Janeiro e Março, para continuar o programa de ensino aos jovens longe do inverno mais rigoroso na Grã-Bretanha. O The College, no Sussex, fez deslocar 47 jovens alunos, acompanhados de professores de golfe e de outras disciplinas para o Castro Marim Golfe Resort. As instalações do antigo clubhouse transformaram-se em salas de aula durante o dia. A delegação inglesa fica também alojada no Castro Marim Golfe. Os jovens alunos são divididos em grupos e durante todo o dia, entre as 8 e as 17.30 horas, participam em sucessivas sessões de trabalho e todos jogam pelo menos 18 buracos no campo. Enquanto uns estão no campo, outros treinam acompanhados dos técnicos ou participam em sessões mais intensivas, nas matérias onde sentem mais dificuldade, e vão depois para o campo. Outro grupo de alunos, mais velhos, está a cumprir um programa idêntico em Islantilla (Espanha), a poucos quilómetros de Castro Marim. Por vezes os dois grupos de estudantes trocam o local de treino, deslocando-se os mais novos a jogar em Islantilla, com os professores, enquanto os mais velhos jogam em Castro Marim. O The College assinou um contrato com o resort algarvio até 2022.
