Tomás Santos Silva and Ricardo Melo Gouveia won the team and individual classifications, respectively, at the PGA Summer Pro-Am, whose first edition PGA de Portugal and Greatgolf organized at Salgados Golf Course, of Grupo Nau, in Albufeira.
“I played quite well, I didn’t miss a shot and the big difference was that I made a lot more putts. Lately I’ve been making results between 3 and 5 under par, but I still needed to make a few more putts to make a round like this,” said Ricardo Melo Gouveia, after winning the individual tournament with an excellent round of 64 strokes, 8 under par. Pedro Lima Pinto, great golf administrator and general director, played in the same group as the Portuguese Olympic athlete and praised him: “he made an extraordinary round of 8 birdies and 10 pairs.” The PGA Summer Pro-Am had 21 professional players and 63 amateurs. Second place in the individual classification was shared by Tomás Bessa and António Sobrinho, with 67 strokes, -5 under par. Tomás Bessa, 24, is the current National Champion, while António Sobrinho, 49, is the record holder for 11 titles in the Solverde National PGA Championship.
In the team classification the title went to Tomás Silva, the National Champion of 2018 and 2019, associated with amateurs Ricardo Pereira, Rui Coelho and Lourenço Mestre, with 87 points. A strong team, as Ricardo Pereira is the ex-footballer (goalkeeper) of the national team, which in golf has such quality that allows him to play some professional tournaments. Rui Coelho is the representative of Nike Golf in Portugal and Lourenço Mestre regularly wins “social” tournaments in the Net rankings.
Second place went to the team of professional Miguel Gaspar with amateurs Gérard Zivy, Henk Vandendool and Claes Rydén with 85 points. Third position went to the National Champion Leonor Bessa, with amateurs Maria Celeste Duarte, Rui Martins and Rui Pedro at 84 points. “Joguei bastante bem, não falhei nenhum ‘shot’ e a grande diferença foi ter metido muito mais putts. Ultimamente tenho feito resultados entre as 3 e as 5 abaixo do Par, mas faltava meter mais uns putts para fazer uma volta destas”, disse Ricardo Melo Gouveia, depois de vencer o torneio individual com uma excelente volta de 64 pancadas, 8 abaixo do Par. Pedro Lima Pinto, administrador e diretor geral da Greatgolf, jogou no mesmo grupo do atleta olímpico português e teceu-lhe rasgados elogios: “fez uma volta extraordinária de 8 birdies e 10 pares”. O PGA Summer Pro-Am contou com 21 jogadores profissionais e 63 amadores e o 2.º lugar da classificação individual foi partilhado por Tomás Bessa e António Sobrinho, com 67 pancadas, -5 abaixo do Par. Tomás Bessa, de 24 anos, é o atual campeão nacional, enquanto António Sobrinho, de 49 anos, é o recordista de 11 títulos no Solverde Campeonato Nacional PGA. Na classificação coletiva o título foi para Tomás Silva, o campeão nacional de 2018 e 2019, associado aos amadores Ricardo Pereira, Rui Coelho e Lourenço Mestre, com 87 pontos. Uma formação de peso, pois Ricardo Pereira é o exfutebolista (guarda-redes) da seleção nacional, que no golfe tem tal qualidade que permite-lhe jogar alguns torneios de profissionais. Rui Coelho é o representante da Nike Golf em Portugal e Lourenço Mestre ganha com regularidade torneios “sociais” nas classificações net.
O 2.º lugar foi para a formação do profissional Miguel Gaspar com os amadores Gérard Zivy, Henk Vandendool e Claes Rydén com 85 pontos. Já a 3.ª posição foi para a campeã nacional Leonor Bessa com 84 pontos, associada aos amadores Maria Celeste Duarte, Rui Martins e Rui Pedro.
