João Caetano Cup
November 7th has special meaning for the Architects Golf Club. It is the date of its founding, and traditionallyto mark the date the João Caetano Cup it is disputed. The annual event honors one of the club’s founders and first president, and was held in 2020 at the Lisbon Sports Club. Interestingly, a club also with many connections to the Architect, João Caetano, of which he is a member. This edition, which marked the 20th anniversary of Architects GC, was hampereded by the pandemic conditions that we all know and also by the bad weather conditions on that day. The tournament, therefore, ended up havingfar fewer participants than expected. However, of those that were there, about 80% were members of the AGC, left satisfied with the game and the tournament environment.
In terms of results, Mateus Marques took 3rd place, João Loja Fernandes was second, and the winner was Domingos Santos Silva, whose name will be recorded in the Cup as the winner of the 20th club anniversary tournament. The winning guest was Luís Filipe Souto from Lisbon Sports Club.
Esta data de 7 de novembro tem um significado especial para o Clube de Golf dos Arquitectos tendo em conta que o mesmo faz 20 anos de existência. Este torneio realizado no Lisbon Sports Club, do qual era membro um dos fundadores e presidente do clube, o Arqto. João Caetano, que acabou por dar nome à Taça que todos os anos lhe é dedicada.
Este ano, devido às condições adversas que todos conhecemos e às péssimas condições climatéricas, o torneio teve uma adesão de participantes muito aquém do esperado. No entanto, o mesmo decorreu de feição para todos os participantes, ressalvando-se que cerca de 80% destes são sócios.
Os resultados foram para Mateus Marques o 3º lugar, em 2º. João Loja Fernandes e o vencedor foi Domingos Santos Silva, que terá o seu nome gravado na Taça como vencedor do 20º torneio de aniversário do clube. O convidado vencedor foi Luís Filipe Souto do Lisbon Sports Club.
