3RD Portuguese Internatio­nal Mid-Amateur Championsh­ip

Spaniard Santiago Vega de Seone and Finnish Minna Kaarnalaht­i were the winners of the III Internatio­nal Mid-Amateur Championsh­ip of Portugal, which took place in November at Troia Golf Club. The first edition of the National Mid-Amateur Circuit came to an end, rewarding the best in the Gold and Silver rankings of the Road to Troia. Coming from Madrid, where he is a member of the Real Club La Moraleja, Santiago Vega de Seoane made an eagle in the 18th (par 5) to beat by the minimum margin his compatriot Oscar Sanchez Jubindo, 43, of the Real Club de Golf De Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands. Another Madrid Spaniard, Ramón Luengo, 50, from Real Sociedad Hipica Española Club de Campo, scored 72 to maintain third place, with 221 (75-74-72). In the Women’s tournament, Minna Kaarnalaht­i defeated the Portuguese Paula Saúde (playingat her ‘home club’ the Troia Golf Club), in the first hole of the ‘play-off’, after both completed the three regulation rounds tied with 237 (+21) strokes. National mid-amateur champion Lara Veira (Santo da Serra GC) was third with 241 (+25).

O espanhol Santiago Vega de Seone e a finlandesa Minna Kaarnalaht­i foram os vencedores do III Campeonato Internacio­nal Mid-Amateur de Portugal, que decorreu em novembro no Troia Golf. Chegou ao fim a primeira edição do Circuito Nacional Mid-Amateur premiando-se os melhores nos rankings Ouro e Prata da Road to Troia.

Vindo de Madrid, onde é membro do Real Club La Moraleja, Santiago Vega de Seoane fez eagle no 18 (Par 5) para bater pela margem mínima o compatriot­a Oscar Sanchez Jubindo, 43 anos, do Real Club de Golf De Las Palmas, nas ilhas Canárias. Outro espanhol de Madrid, Ramón Luengo, 50 anos, sócio da Real Sociedad Hipica Española Club de Campo, marcou 72 para manter o terceiro lugar, com 221 (75-74-72). Na prova feminina, Minna Kaarnalaht­i nateu a portuguesa Paula Saúde (que jogava no seu ‘home clube’ do Clube de Golfe de Troia), no primeiro buraco do ‘play-off’, depois de ambas terem concluído as três voltas regulament­ares empatadas com 237 (+21) pancadas. A campeã nacional mid-amateur Lara Veira (CG Santo da Serra) foi terceira com 241 (+25).
