ALPS TOUR: TOMÁS BESSA IN THE TOP-5

Tomás Bessa finished the Mira Live the Soul Open (€ 35,000 in prize-money) - the second event of the year on the Alps Tour, at the Acaya Golf Club, in Lecce, Italy - in the trio of 5ths, at the end of March. The national profession­al champion had been among the 14ths the previous week, in the debut of the season at the Mira Golf Experience Acaya Open, played on the same course. He started by occupying seventh place on the Order of Merit of the circuit, which rewards the first three, at the end of the season, with a promotion to the Challenge Tour - the second European division.

Tomás Bessa started the Mira Live the Soul Open very strong, with a round of 66 (-5) and third place, losing ground in the next round with a 73 (+2), to partially recover it with a final round of 68 (-3), for a total of 207 (-6). Miguel Gaspar, like Bessa, was in 10th after 36 holes, with scores of 69-70, but ended up with a 72 (+1) that relegated him to 18th with 211 (-2). He showed, however, clear progress in relation to the first tournament, in which he missed the cut by two strokes. Vítor Lopes, who had been among the 11th in the debut of the Alps Tour 2021, finished in 45th, with 217 (+4), rounds of 74-6974.Mira Live the Soul Open was won by French amateur Paul Margolis, with 201 (67-68-66), -12.

Tomás Bessa finalizou no final de Março o Mira Live the Soul Open (€35 mil de prize-money) – a segunda prova do ano no Alps Tour, no Acaya Golf Club, em Lecce, Itália – no trio dos 5.ºs. O campeão nacional de profission­ais tinha ficado entre os 14.ºs, na semana anteior, na estreia da época no Mira Golf Experience Acaya Open, jogado no mesmo campo, pelo que passou a ocupar o sétimo posto na Ordem de Mérito do circuito, que premeia os três primeiros, no final da época, com a promoção ao Challenge Tour – a segunda divisão europeia. Tomás Bessa começou muito forte o Mira Live the Soul Open, com uma volta de 66 (-5) e o terceiro lugar, perdendo terreno na seguinte com um 73 (+2), para recuperá-lo em parte com um cartão final de 68 (-3), para um total de 207 (-6). Miguel Gaspar, tal como Bessa, estava nos 10.ºs aos 36 buracos, com scores de 69-70, mas acabou com um 72 (+1) que o relegou para os 18.ºs, com 211 (-2). Mostrou, no entanto, claros progressos em relação ao primeiro torneio, em que falhou o cut por duas pancadas. Vítor Lopes, que havia ficado entre os 11.ºs na estreia do Alps Tour 2021, encerrou nos 45.ºs, com 217 (+4), voltas de 74-69-74.

O Mira Live the Soul Open foi ganho pelo amador francês Paul Margolis, com 201 (67-68-66), -12.
