The women’s national team achieved good results in the Madrid Abierto Championship 2021, which showed an evolution compared to the last Portuguese participation, in 2019.

In a tournament in which only three players played under par 72 of Golf Santander, it is worth mentioning the results of Ana da Costa Rodrigues, 19th place, Sofia Barros Sá, 23rd place, Leonor Medeiros, 33rd place, and Ivete Rodrigues, 38th place. Luciana Reis, failed to make the cut.

Ana da Costa Rodrigues, who played this Championship for the first time, showed a good level for the beginning of the season. Starting with a round of 77 (+5) strokes, in the remaining two rounds she was quite solid, shooting rounds of 74 (+2) strokes, finishing in 19th place tied with 4 other players. Sofia Barroso Sá, who in 2019 failed to make the cut, shot 75 (+3), 80 (+8) and 71 (-1) strokes, grabbing the 23rd place, tied.

Leonor Medeiros, winner of the 1st tournament of the FPG 2021 Circuit, improved her 2019 ranking by 14 positions, shooting rounds of 77 (+5), 79 (+7) and 75 (+3) strokes, the which allowed her to finish in 33rd position, tied.

Ivete Rodrigues, a rookie player in the National Team competitions, delivered cards of 79 (+7), 80 (8) and 74 (+2), achieving a good place tied 38th. Finally, Luciana Reis, with rounds of 80 (+8) and 92 (+20), was unable to make the cut set at 14 strokes over par.

The winner of the 2021 Abierto de Madrid Ladies Championship was Spanish player Carolina López-Chacarra with a total of -4 strokes.

The next competition for the National Women’s Team will be the 91st Portuguese International Ladies Amateur Championship, at Montado Golf Resort, from May 12th to 15th.

Já Sofia Barroso Sá, que em 2019 não conseguiu passar o cut, fez voltas de 75 (+3), 80 (+8) e 71 (-1) pancadas, agarrando o 23.º lugar, empatado.

Leonor Medeiros, vencedora do 1.° torneio do Circuito da FPG 2021, melhorou em 14 posições a sua classificação de 2019, fazendo desta feita voltas de 77 (+5), 79 (+7) e 75 (+3) pancadas, o que lhe permitiu acabar na 33.º posição, empatada.

Ivete Rodrigues, jogadora estreante em competições da Seleção Nacional, entregou cartões de 79 (+7), 80 (+8) e 74 (+2), conseguindo um bom 38.º lugar empatado. Por fim, Luciana Reis, com voltas de 80 (+8) e 92 (+20), não foi capaz de passar o Cut fixado nas 14 pancadas acima do Par. A vencedora do Campeonato Abierto de Madrid Femenino 2021 foi a jogador espanhola Carolina López-Chacarra com um total de -4 pancadas. A próxima competição da Seleção Nacional Feminina será o 91st Portuguese International Ladies Amateur Championship, no Montado Golf Resort, de 12 a 15 de maio.
