R.S. YEATMAN CUP

Duarte Gonçalves was the winner of the R.S. Yeatman Cup, one of the oldest and most prestigious events on the calendar of his home club, the Miramar Golf Club, and counting for the BPI National and FPG Circuit rankings.

The tournament was played at the end of May in two rounds of stroke play with a good field consisting of 53 players. Duarte Gonçalves opened on Saturday with the best round of the tournament, 65 strokes, 3 under par 68, and then added a 72 (+4) totalling 137 (+1) and won with a three shot advantage over his teammate, club and Portuguese international Hugo Camelo Ferreira (140, 71-69).

Miramar’s players occupied the top seven places on the table, with Miguel Neves (70-71) and João Iglésias (69-72), both with 141 (+5), filling the third and fourth places, respectively. Tomás Araújo (70-72) closed the top-5 with the same 142 (+6) of Diogo Pinto Rocha (70-72), who was 6th.

The R.S. Yeatman Cup is an annual classic competition in honor of Richard Yeatman, one of the most important members of Miramar, and therefore considered a ‘major’ of the club. Duarte Gonçalves succeeded Afonso da Costa Rodrigues (Miramar) on the list of winners.

Ovencedor da Taça R. S. Yeatman 2022 foi Duarte Gonçalves. O torneio, pontuável para os rankings Nacional BPI e do Circuito da FPG, é uma das mais antigas e prestigiadas provas do calendário do Club de Golf de Miramar, home clube do vencedor. O torneio foi jogado no final de Maio em duas voltas de stroke play com um bom ‘field’, composto por 53 jogadores.

Duarte Gonçalves abriu no sábado com aquele que seria o melhor resultado mais baixo do torneio, 65 pancadas, 3 abaixo do Par 68, e depois acrescentou-lhe um 72 (+4) para somar 137 (+1) e ganhar com três de vantagem sobre o seu companheiro de clube e internacional português Hugo Camelo Ferreira (140, 71-69).

Os jogadores de Miramar ocuparam os sete primeiros lugares da tabela, com Miguel Neves (70-71) e João Iglésias (69-72), ambos com 141 (+5), a preencherem o terceiro e quarto lugares, respetivamente. Tomás Araújo (70-72) fechou o top-5 com as mesmas 142 (+6) de Diogo Pinto Rocha (70-72), que foi 6.º.

A Taça R. S. Yeatman é uma competição clássica anual em homenagem a Richard Yeatman, um dos mais relevantes associados de Miramar, e por isso considerada um ‘major’ do clube. Duarte Gonçalves sucedeu na lista dos vencedores a Afonso da Costa Rodrigues (Miramar).
