The taste of excellence
A PORTUGUESE WINE RECENTLY HIGHLIGHTED BY THE WASHINGTON POST IS AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT INTERMARCHÉ SHOPS
The red wine Pioneiro, from the Venâncio da Costa Lima producer in the Setúbal area, was elected by the prestigious US newspaper The Washington Post as the “Choice of the Year”, in a list that recognises the best wines produced worldwide. In Portugal, this acclaimed wine is sold exclusively in Intermarché shops.
Captivated by the charms of this wine from the Setúbal Peninsula, Dave Mcintyre, a renowned wine expert who writes a weekly column for the newspaper, highlights the quality-price ratio – this is a complex red wine, with a recommended selling price in Portugal of just €3.99. Only available in Intermarché shops, this is another example of how the brand always seeks to introduce quality products to its clients.
Aside from taking the top spot, Pioneiro is also the only Portuguese wine on the list of the 12 best “finds” of 2021, a careful selection from the specialist who, throughout the year, tasted more than 155 wines from all over the world. This is already the fifth year of publication of the list of the best wines compiled by the journalist.
Dave Mclntyre is also a self-confessed port aficionado and was impressed with the interconnectedness and development of flavours over the following days, highlighting Pioneiro as a great buy to be the house red in the early months of 2022.
“Intermarché is proud to be a brand that has always supported national production and the economy, striving for excellence and maintaining its commitment to bring quality products at the best prices to the entire Portuguese population,” says the management. ■
