Inovtravel hopes to resume call to New York in October

-

Tour operator Inovtravel hopes to resume the connection between Madeira and New York, which was in charge of SATA Azores Airlines, at the end of October, or November the latest.

The decision to continue the route is on the table, but, according to Luís Nunes, Co-owner & CEO of Inovtravel, there is still no effective decision.

“Right now, the possibility of resuming the operation is on the table, but there is still no news. We do not plan to launch other destinations, our idea is, if possible, to consolidate this route”, advances Luís Nunes.

The operation, inaugurated in November of last year and completed in May, was affected by the pandemic, especially by the Ómicron variant, which reduced the expected sales volume.

“We knew the risks, but it wasn't the success we wanted. The balance is relatively positive for a first year in a pandemic context. We hope that if there is a second year of operation it will be more profitable”, observes Nunes, who nevertheless praises the receptivity of the Americans. “We saw that Americans like Madeira and that the product is in line with what customers are looking for”, he notes.
