Sheikh Mohamed’s Khateer Alkhalediah makes it two wins
Already victorious at the same Waregem racecourse on May 1, the representative of
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalifa al-Thani, Khateer Alkhalediah confirmed that good impression by following up in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Cup, a mile for four-year-old and older Purebred Arabians, in Waregem, Belgium, on Wednesday.
Trained by Elisabeth Bernard, the five-year-old ridden by Fabien Lefebvre, got home by one-and-a-half lengths from the Postema-mulder S.-trained and Vanderbeke K.-ridden Picasso. The Wolters Cjm-trained and Neuville L.-ridden Pytha took minor honours – three-and-a-half lengths further back.
This was Khateer Alkhalediah fourth career outing, having made his debut at Pau in France on February 2.
Bred by Al Khalediah Stables, Khateer Alkhalediah is a son of Laith Al Khalediah and Edèle De Carrère, who managed one win in seven career starts. He is the brother of Jalab Al Alkhalediah. The latter won Prix Shadwell Manganate at Deauville, France and was second in the Shadwell Dubai International Stakes (Group 1 PA) at Newbury.
