Five people executed for killing Pakistani

Saudi authoritie­s have executed five people convicted of murdering a Pakistani national in the west of the kingdom.

The two Saudis and three Chadian nationals stabbed a Pakistani guard and hit him on the head with a stick with the aim of robbing a depot he worked for in the city of Jeddah, the Saudi interior ministry said in a statement.

The statement gave no details on when the killing took place.

The authoritie­s in the kingdom executed 64 people in 2018, including the five announced yesterday.

As many as 122 people were executed in 2017 and 144 the year before.

The executions in Saudi Arabia are carried out by beheading with sword or shooting.
