-

Preparations for the upcoming winter camping season (2018-19) have started, a source at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) told local Arabic daily Arrayah. MME would take all the necessary steps and procedures to make the season a success while maintaining a good balance between the convenience of the campers and protecting and preserving the local environment.

The source denied rumours on social media regarding the closure of the Sealine beach for campers and making it exclusive for certain category of people with special fees.

“The Sealine area is considered one of the most important winter camping areas that caters to around 60% of the number of ap- proved winter camps. In addition, the upcoming winter camping season at the Sealine area would see the introduction of new services to upgrade the entertainment experience and convenience of the campers and beach visitors,” the source clarified.

Furthermore, co-ordination would be maintained with several related entities to provide the area with more services to meet the requirements.

There are a number of projects that would be implemented at the Sealine area by the MME’s Natural Protectorates Sector. These include a complete rehabilitation and development of the areas by allowing more food and beverage shops to operate near the beach for the first time.

Up to a 100 services shops would be allowed near the camp- ing sites. The services offered will include vehicle and bike maintenance, tyre shops, and camping items and necessities, in addition to eateries and restaurants. Also, vehicle dealers would be allowed to open maintenance and service workshops there.

The Sealine beach enjoys great popularity among the inhabitants of the country with around 15,000 visitors on holidays and weekends. Accordingly, another project is set to be implemented by the MME to improve the place such as increasing the number of sunshades, toilets and the other related services that would benefit beach goers. There are also plans to organise various entertainment activities to enhance tourism in the area, while protecting the environment, the daily added.
