Gord to host sustainability summit on October 23-24
Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and in the presence of HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, the Sustainability Summit 2018 will be held on October 23 and 24, 2018 at the Ritz-Carlton Doha.
The event is being organised by Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (Gord) in collaboration with Qatari Diar Real Estate Company and Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy as host sponsors. Hundreds of industry professionals have already registered to attend the two-day event featuring presentations, panel discussions, announcements, awards and an exhibition area showcasing sustainability products and services by partner organisations. Experts from leading international organisations and from Oman and Kuwait will be participating in the summit.
Top Qatari and international organisations are collaborating with Sustainability Summit 2018, namely QNB as the strategic partner and Aspire Zone Foundation, Qatar Tourism Authority, Qatar Petrochemical Company, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, QD-CPC, Smeet, Shell Qatar and Blue Solutions from France as the platinum sponsors of the event.
Qatar Airways is the official airline and Al-Ta’adhod Trading and Contracting Group is the sustainability partner. Furthermore, leading international agencies like UN Environment, IETA and EU-GCC have also joined this platform to provide the global perspective. The embassy of Canada in Qatar is an international partner to promote the platform.

During the opening ceremony, co-operation agreements will be signed between Gord and several local, regional and international bodies for sustainability initiatives to be implemented in Qatar and across the region.
The Sustainability Summit 2018 is expected to be attended by a large number of professionals from design consultants, project managers, contractors, process specialists, energy management specialists, sustainability analysts, environment, utilities, waste, climate change, among others.
The summit also offers international and regional perspective on climate change challenges and solutions for a low-carbon and climate-resilient future. It aims to drive innovation in the design of built environment, as well as promoting education and collaboration in the field, bringing to the fore the latest research and developments in sustainable building design.
At the opening ceremony, Gord will present the sustainability awards to many companies and organisations locally and internationally for their leadership and commitment to adopt sustainability best practices in the design, construction and operation of different types of developments.
