HEC Paris in Qatar organises lecture on cancer awareness

HEC Paris recently hosted an awareness lecture, conducted by ‘Screen For Life’, Qatar’s national breast and bowel cancer screening programme led by the Primary Health Care Corporatio­n (PHCC), as part of its corporate social responsibi­lity (CSR) initiative.

The ‘Screen For Life’ team, offered insights during the lecture held on the HEC Paris Doha campus on the occasion of the Breast Cancer Awareness month this October. The lecture for HEC Paris in Qatar employees aimed to educate them on the programme’s objectives and the benefits of getting screened in early detection of breast and bowel cancer.

Dr Nils Plambeck, dean and CEO of HEC Paris in Qatar, said: “At HEC Paris in Qatar, we believe in taking a holistic approach towards our employees’ welfare. Conducting this cancer awareness lecture in associatio­n with ‘Screen for Life’ , who are a pioneer in raising awareness on breast and bowel cancer screening, is one such initiative that helps educating our staff on the importance of regular cancer screening.

In a statement, HEC Paris in Qatar said it “has always believed in contributi­ng to the well-being of the community and in equipping its employees with the skills to value the importance of CSR as a contributi­on to the society and communitie­s”. With the help of ‘Screen For Life’ team, this initiative aims to enhance the vital need for regular screening for such life-threatenin­g ailments.

‘Screen For Life’ is leading the mission to ease the burden of cancer in the country and help build a healthier, happier population through its ongoing, wide-ranging awareness drive and outreach programme. ‘Screen For Life’, led by PHCC, has launched a nationwide awareness campaign across the State to mark the global annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiative, titled ‘Your health is Precious, Get Screened’, to urge women to undergo a free mammogram at one of the programme’s three screening suites Al Wakrah, Leabaib and Rawdat Al Khail health centres.
