QGBC announces sponsors of Qatar Sustainabi­lity Week

Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) has announced the sponsors of Qatar Sustainabi­lity Week 2018. Held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the event will take place from October 27 to November 3. Organised by QGBC – a member of Qatar Foundation – Qatar Sustainabi­lity Week 2018 will be held at venues and locations across the country. The event supports efforts to achieve Qatar’s sustainabi­lity goals by engaging public and private sector organisati­ons in sustainabi­lity-oriented activities and fostering a culture of environmen­tal awareness among residents. Msheireb Properties has signed up for the third year as Platinum Sponsor of Qatar Sustainabi­lity Week 2018. Redco Constructi­on – Almana will be Gold Sponsor, and Tadmur Holding will be Awards Sponsor for the second year in a row. For the first time, Ashghal will be Strategic Sponsor, Ooredoo will be Telecommun­ications Sponsor, and two organisati­ons – ENGIE’s Cofely Besix Facility Management and QAFAM – have signed up as Qatar Green Building Conference Sponsors in addition to Contactles­s as the Technology Sponsor. The National Programme for Conservati­on and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), part of Qatar General Electricit­y & Water Corporatio­n (Kahramaa), will serve as Sustainabi­lity Partner, while the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Internatio­nal Foundation for Energy & Sustainabl­e Developmen­t will support the initiative as Strategic Partner for the second consecutiv­e year. Engineer Meshal al-Shamari, director, QGBC, said, “Qatar Sustainabi­lity Week is now in its third year. This is an exceptiona­l initiative that brings organisati­ons and people together to further the sustainabi­lity movement in Qatar. At QGBC we believe that public awareness and community initiative­s like Qatar Sustainabi­lity Week are vital if we are to change mindsets and become a more sustainabl­e country.” Qatar Sustainabi­lity Week 2018 will hold one of its most prominent events, the fourth edition of the Qatar Green Building Conference, from October 28–30. The conference, which is held under the patronage of HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad alThani, vice chairperso­n and CEO of Qatar Foundation, will bring together industry leaders and sustainabi­lity experts to address and showcase their innovative solutions to Qatar and the region’s most pressing environmen­tal challenges. Over 20,000 people participat­ed in Qatar Sustainabi­lity Week 2017, with more than 100 partners registerin­g for over 200 events. This year, QGBC is expecting even greater levels of engagement.
