CMC urges tougher norms for eateries

- By Ayman Adly Staff Reporter

The Central Municipal Council (CMC) has urged for stricter standards for granting licences to mobile cafes and eateries.

At its bi-weekly session on Tuesday, the CMC asked the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) to study about the enforcement of proper standards for the business locations of mobile cafes and eateries so as not to hinder traffic flow.

The designated locations should be adequately away from the residential areas. Further, the MME should ensure that these eateries abide by the regulatory conditions.

The CMC recommended that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry should study the possibility of putting elaborate terms and conditions for licensing the operation of mobile cafes and eateries, covering all aspects.

The council issued other recommendations addressed to the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) regarding prioritising aid to the needy persons.

It also suggested that the logo of charities should not be put on the gifts and in-kind donations distributed to the needy to save them any potential embarrassment. In addition, the data and information of their aid disbursement inside and outside the country should be published.

The CMC hosted Yousef Ahmed al-Jaidah, manager of Customer Services department at Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), who talked about the main tasks and services of the department and efforts to provide customers with around the clock services, besides the emergency services.
