FNAC hosts notable authors at book fair

FNAC, a leading cultural destinatio­n in Qatar, together with the French embassy and the French Institute, is marking a “remarkable participat­ion” at the 29th Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair.

At the event, FNAC Qatar is displaying a wide variety of French books and a special section for Qatari authors and organised a range of activities such as workshops, book signings, meet and greets, storytelli­ng sessions and other interactiv­e activities.

Held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the 29th Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair is being held until December 8 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre under the theme, ‘Doha, A City of Knowledge and Conscience’.

This year, FNAC is hosting notable authors specially invited by FNAC Internatio­nal, France, including Sibylline Desmaziere­s and Jerome D’Aviau, authors and illustrato­rs of the book Rat et les animaux moches, who interacted with students during their workshops.

Alexis Nesme, author and illustrato­r of the book Les Enfants du Capitaine Grant, also led workshops for school students.

Over the 10 days, the FNAC booth is expected to attract more than 600 students from different schools in Doha. Qatari writers and artists will be visiting the booth throughout the exhibition to present their work.

“FNAC is supporting local talent through cultural and educationa­l activation­s and signing ceremonies. All of these activities inspire and enlighten students on the importance of reading books, which helps further hone their talents,” it said in a statement.

The Doha Internatio­nal Book Fair is considered the largest internatio­nal book fair in the region with extensive participat­ion from different countries worldwide. It is a platform to exchange cultural diversity and a space to inspire dialogue and share knowledge.
