Qatar’s key role in Afghan reconcilia­tion highlighte­d

HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi has reaffirmed Qatar’s constructi­ve role in achieving the national reconcilia­tion and peace in Afghanista­n through its role as mediator in the Afghan crisis between the conflictin­g parties, in co-ordination and consultati­on with its strategic allies.This came as the minister, heads Qatar’s delegation participat­ing in the meeting of foreign ministers of the countries taking part in “The Resolute Support Mission (RSM)”, held yesterday at the headquarte­rs of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisati­on (Nato) in Brussels.

In his speech at the meeting, the minister stressed Qatar’s stance in support of maintainin­g security and achieving peace and stability in Afghanista­n, praising the role of Nato and its efforts in building peace and stabilisin­g Afghanista­n. The minister reiterated Qatar’s commitment to support efforts to maintain world peace and security. He added that stability and peace in Afghanista­n have a bearing on regional and global peace, stressing the importance of uniting regional and internatio­nal efforts to achieve this.
