Ad­vi­sory Coun­cil takes part in WTO ses­sion

A del­e­ga­tion from the Ad­vi­sory (Shura) Coun­cil is par­tic­i­pat­ing in the an­nual ses­sion of the Par­lia­men­tary Con­fer­ence on the World Trade Or­gan­i­sa­tion (WTO) cur­rently be­ing held in Geneva, Switzer­land. The con­fer­ence aims to ex­change views, in­for­ma­tion and ex­pe­ri­ences and seeks to find fu­ture so­lu­tions to pro­mote free and fair trade that ben­e­fits de­vel­op­ing as well as de­vel­oped coun­tries in ad­di­tion to means of pro­mot­ing devel­op­ment and re­duc­ing poverty. Dur­ing the con­fer­ence, pre­lim­i­nary in­for­ma­tion will be pre­sented on the lat­est de­vel­op­ments in the Doha ne­go­ti­a­tions, known as the “Doha Round”, trade ne­go­ti­a­tions of the World Trade Or­gan­i­sa­tion (WTO), started in Novem­ber 2001, aimed at re­al­is­ing the prin­ci­ple of free trade be­tween the coun­tries of the world.

z The Ad­vi­sory (Shura) Coun­cil will also par­tic­i­pate in the 24th ses­sion of the Con­fer­ence of the Par­ties (COP24) to the United Na­tions Frame­work Con­ven­tion on Cli­mate Change (UNFCCC), slated for to­mor­row in Poland. (QNA)
