Qatar elected IJSO vice-president for Asia

Qatar has been elected the vice-president of the executive committee of the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) for Asia on the sidelines of its 15th session in the Botswana capital Gaborone. Fatima al-Rashed, head of science division at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s Department of Educational Guidance, who is also IJSO’s national co-ordinator of the biology, chemistry, and physics, won the post after receiving 11 votes to 6 votes for her opponent from Korea during the Asian countries’ vote to elect their representative. This achievement is the first of its kind for the country in this field, as Qatar proved its excellence in the world with its achievements, aspirations, and ambitions. (QNA)
