Qatar elected IJSO vice-pres­i­dent for Asia

Qatar has been elected the vice-pres­i­dent of the ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee of the In­ter­na­tional Ju­nior Sci­ence Olympiad (IJSO) for Asia on the side­lines of its 15th ses­sion in the Botswana cap­i­tal Gaborone. Fa­tima al-Rashed, head of sci­ence divi­sion at the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion and Higher Ed­u­ca­tion’s Depart­ment of Ed­u­ca­tional Guid­ance, who is also IJSO’s na­tional co-or­di­na­tor of the bi­ol­ogy, chem­istry, and physics, won the post af­ter re­ceiv­ing 11 votes to 6 votes for her op­po­nent from Korea dur­ing the Asian coun­tries’ vote to elect their rep­re­sen­ta­tive. This achieve­ment is the first of its kind for the coun­try in this field, as Qatar proved its ex­cel­lence in the world with its achieve­ments, aspi­ra­tions, and am­bi­tions. (QNA)
