Qatar elected IJSO vice-president for Asia

Qatar has been elected the vice-president of the executive committee of the Internatio­nal Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) for Asia on the sidelines of its 15th session in the Botswana capital Gaborone. Fatima al-Rashed, head of science division at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s Department of Educationa­l Guidance, who is also IJSO’s national co-ordinator of the biology, chemistry, and physics, won the post after receiving 11 votes to 6 votes for her opponent from Korea during the Asian countries’ vote to elect their representa­tive. This achievemen­t is the first of its kind for the country in this field, as Qatar proved its excellence in the world with its achievemen­ts, aspiration­s, and ambitions. (QNA)
