30 held at pro-migrant caravan demonstration

-

Dozens of religious leaders were arrested Monday during a demonstration in support of a caravan of Central American migrants in San Diego near the Mexico border, organisers said. The demonstration, organised by Quaker group American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) on the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, called for the US to “end the detention and deportation of immigrants.” Photographs shared by the organisation showed demonstrators, which according to AFSC included people of Christian, Muslim and Jewish faith, kneeling in front of authorities in riot gear near the border fence in San Diego.
