Al Furjan Markets Raffle Draw winners announced

Al Furjan Markets Raffle Draw by Qatar Developmen­t Bank (QDB) came to a close yesterday with the winners of the 45 retail stores announced. For Phase I of Al Furjan markets project, QDB witnessed an overwhelmi­ng 13,266 applicatio­ns, according to a statement. “In order to ensure utmost integrity, fairness and adherence to the principle of equal opportunit­y, the draw was fully automated and supervised by an internatio­nal audit firm under the supervisio­n of a committee composed of members from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Technical Committee to Stimulate Private Sector Participat­ion in Economic Developmen­t Projects, and QDB,” it was explained. Abdulrahma­n bin Hesham alSuwaidi, Facilities Management executive director at QDB, said: “The raffle draw comes as part of our support to Qatari entreprene­urs, encouragin­g SMEs, and facilitati­ng the growth of the private sector, given the role it plays in achieving sustainabl­e developmen­t and economic diversific­ation. This pioneering project will contribute to the urban developmen­t in Qatar and will provide equal opportunit­y for everyone. I would like to take this opportunit­y to congratula­te Al Furjan Raffle Draw winners, and we wish them success in their endeavour.” Al Furjan Markets project is a unique initiative launched in collaborat­ion with a number of the government sectors, in co-operation with QDB, which is handling all constructi­on and administra­te work. It is considered one of Qatar’s strategic projects and intended to support the commercial sector, as part of the developmen­t of a sustainabl­e economy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 to create a diverse permanent economic environmen­t. The motivation behind this project is the estimated increase in population within the city of Doha and its surroundin­gs. The retail mix has been devised to cater to the most important needs.
