Al Furjan Markets Raffle Draw winners announced
Al Furjan Markets Raffle Draw by Qatar Development Bank (QDB) came to a close yesterday with the winners of the 45 retail stores announced. For Phase I of Al Furjan markets project, QDB witnessed an overwhelming 13,266 applications, according to a statement. “In order to ensure utmost integrity, fairness and adherence to the principle of equal opportunity, the draw was fully automated and supervised by an international audit firm under the supervision of a committee composed of members from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Technical Committee to Stimulate Private Sector Participation in Economic Development Projects, and QDB,” it was explained. Abdulrahman bin Hesham alSuwaidi, Facilities Management executive director at QDB, said: “The raffle draw comes as part of our support to Qatari entrepreneurs, encouraging SMEs, and facilitating the growth of the private sector, given the role it plays in achieving sustainable development and economic diversification. This pioneering project will contribute to the urban development in Qatar and will provide equal opportunity for everyone. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Al Furjan Raffle Draw winners, and we wish them success in their endeavour.” Al Furjan Markets project is a unique initiative launched in collaboration with a number of the government sectors, in co-operation with QDB, which is handling all construction and administrate work. It is considered one of Qatar’s strategic projects and intended to support the commercial sector, as part of the development of a sustainable economy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 to create a diverse permanent economic environment. The motivation behind this project is the estimated increase in population within the city of Doha and its surroundings. The retail mix has been devised to cater to the most important needs.
