Mahaseel Festival extended until Jan 4 on popular demand
In response to the overwhelming public demand, Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation has extended the 4th edition of Mahaseel Festival until January 4, 2020. The event was scheduled to conclude yesterday.
The event will remain open to the public at the southern area of Katara (opposite St Regis Doha), from 9am-9pm. After January 4, Mahaseel Market will be open for the public on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am-9pm until March 2020.
The festival has been receiving large numbers of customers and visitors who flocked to the meat, poultry and dairy shops to buy the excellent and premium local products on display.
Salman al-Nuaimi, head of the organising committee of the festival, stressed that the festival, has been a huge success and hence the decision to extend it for another week.
“People are enjoying the festival and its accompanying activities suitable for all age categories. Besides, it coincided with the mid-year school holidays and families found it an excellent opportunity to spend a good time in the open air and shop for quality and fresh products,” he pointed out.
Local companies and farms specialised in meat, poultry and dairy and egg production and their derivatives have a strong presence at the ongoing edition of the festival.
The four participating companies are the Arab Qatari for Poultry Production - Al Waha, Dandy Company Limited, Gulf Food Production - Raw’a, and the Arab Qatari Company for
Dairy Production - Alban, in addition to Azbah Poultry and Quail farm, and Widam Food Company, the largest supplier of red meat products in the country.
Mossa Ahmed Othman, director of public relations at Widam, said that all the products of Widam on display for the public are fresh, whether locally slaughtered livestock or imported in addition to other products of processed meat to respond to the various demands and preferences of customers.
A good number of Qatari farms are displaying their fresh products, besides those farms specialised in honey production and dates of different types. As a visitor said, Mahaseel Festival offers quality, fresh products at reasonable and competitive prices.
