Qatar Charity honors Asian School Fiesta 2019 winners

Qatar Charity (QC) has honored the winners in the ‘Asian School Fiesta 2019’ as well as its supporters and sponsors during the sing ceremony attended by a huge number of ents, children, and principals of various Asian ools in Qatar. Supervised by the Friends Cultural Center C), a Qatar Charity Center for Community velopment for Asian communitie­s, the Asian ool Fiesta aims at developing cultural and istic capabiliti­es and skills of students, creating interactiv­e and competitiv­e atmosphere for ldren, enhancing interactio­n among these mmunities, and acquaintin­g participan­ts with indigenous Qatari culture and tradition. During the ceremony, Qatar Charity tributed prizes to the students declared as nners in the different categories of the Asian ool Fiesta 2019, and handed over mementos the fiesta supporters including Lulu Group, seem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre, GITCO Group Company, Radio Suno, and others, in addition istributin­g mementos to various Asian schools Qatar.

The ceremony included a variety of activities h as Qatari national anthem recited by a group tudents from the Shantinike­tan Indian School, eches delivered by Mr. Jassim Mohammed Emadi, Director of the Local Developmen­t partment of Qatar Charity and dignitarie­s ending the ceremony, and a video clip on ious completion­s held within the Asian School sta 2019. The ceremony also witnessed the performanc­e “Oppana” by students from various Asian ools in Qatar. It is a popular form of social entertainm­ent among the Mappila community of Kerala, South India, prevalent throughout Kerala, especially in Malappuram. Females perform it on special occasions like marriage.

Social Fabric

Qatar Charity attaches significan­t attention to expatriate communitie­s living in Qatar to contribute to strengthen­ing the local social fabric, consolidat­ing cooperatio­n, enhancing cultural interactio­n among these communitie­s, and acquaintin­g them with indigenous Qatar heritages and traditions,” said Mr. Jassim Mohammed AlEmadi, while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Asian School Fiesta2019.

Qatar Charity is keen on raising awareness, training, developing artistic capabiliti­es and skills of Asian communitie­s’ members by organizing various activities and events throughout the year, noted Al-Emadi.

Al-Emadi expressed his thanks and appreciati­on to those extending support to the Asian School Fiesta 2019, participat­ing schools, and judges, for their tremendous contributi­on to the success of the fiesta, urging expatriate Asian communitie­s to participat­e more actively in and benefit from the activities that Qatar holds for them throughout the year.

Values of Humanitari­an Action

For his part, Shihabudee­n Pulath, Senior VicePrinci­pal of the Shantinike­tan Indian School, appreciate­d Qatar Charity for organizing various activities for children to showcase and improve their talents, emphasizin­g that such events organized by Qatar Charity give participan­ts an opportunit­y to have a better understand­ing of different cultures and the values of humanitari­an action.

In a press statement on the sidelines of the ceremony, Mohammad Shihab, marketing executive at Lulu, said, “We have supported this fiesta as part of our corporate social responsibi­lity (CSR), with the aim of encouragin­g children to further enhance their skills and capabiliti­es, boosting social solidarity among different Asian communitie­s and giving back to the society in which we operates.”

Top Winners

The list of top winners of the Asian School Fiesta 2019 included many students, most notably, Smrithi Haridasan, a 9th grade student from the Birla Public School, who obtained the first position in the poem recitation, Monoact, and Kadhaprasa­ngam in the Malayalam language.

Also among top winners were also Zaida Zara Rasik, a student from the DPS Modern Indian School, who was declared as first winner in joining dots and coloring in the category of Kids 1, and Sairish Fathima, a student of the Ideal Indian School, who occupied first rank in singing Malayalam action song in the category of Kids 1.

The students, along with their parents, expressed their delight at taking part in the fiesta and its competitio­ns that contribute­d to developing the creative skills of the participan­ts, exhibiting their capabiliti­es and increasing their knowledge. They also extended thanks to Qatar Charity and Cultural Friends Center.

Joyful Moment

“It is very wonderful and joyful moment for me to receive prizes as a winner in the Asian Schoo Fiesta 2019, which is an opportunit­y to exhibit my hidden talent, know about other cultures, and meet new friends,” said Smrithi Haridasan, a 9th grade student from the Birla Public School, who took part in the “Senior Category” of the fiesta.

The Asian School Fiesta 2019 has successful­ly concluded, with the participat­ion of 4,500 students from 20 Asian schools in Qatar Categorize­d into five groups ranging from kindergart­en to grade 12, participan­ts gave tough competitio­n to each other. Besides, many Arab students studying at Asian schools of Qatar actively took part in the fiesta.

Various Competitio­ns

As part of the 2019 edition of the Asian School Fiesta, Qatar Charity held various type of competitio­ns, including joining dots, singing reciting poem, writing stories, news reading performing plays, elocution, painting, drawing clay modelling, keyboard, craft installati­on, and others. Students from Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese Bangladesh­i, Filipino, Indonesian, Malaysian, and Sri Lankan expatriate communitie­s took part in the competitio­ns.

It is worth mentioning that the Asian Schoo Fiesta is one of the most significan­t events, with the largest number of participan­ts, organized by Qatar Charity annually since 2009 for children belonging to Asian expatriate communitie­s residing in the State of Qatar.
