Qatar Charity launches programmes for orphans in Sudan, Gaza and Indonesia

Qatar Charity (QC) has recently implemente­d various training courses, sports and cultural activities, educationa­l trips, and health checkups for the benefit of orphans in Sudan, the Gaza Strip in Palestine, and Indonesia.

The implementa­tion of these activities came as part of comprehens­ive care for the sponsored orphans to develop their capabiliti­es and skills in a healthy environmen­t and in an atmosphere of fun and joy, according to a statement yesterday.

At the end of its annual activities for the sponsored children in Sudan, QC, through its office in the country, has implemente­d many activities, including a specialise­d first aid course, benefiting more than 400 orphans in North Kordofan State.

The course has covered both theoretica­l and practical aspects to teach the participan­ts all first aid skills and how to use first aid kit. At the end of the course, the participat­ing orphans were honoured and given certificat­es recognised by the Sudanese Red Crescent Society.

It also organised a celebratio­n event on the Qatar National Day, in which more than 250 orphans, along with their mothers, participat­ed. In addition to a variety of activities organised for children, the ceremony also witnessed the honouring of the orphans with outstandin­g academic record.

QC’s office in the Gaza Strip has honoured the orphans who memorised the Holy Qur’an, as part of a project. Some 100 children took part in the ceremony.

In Indonesia, QC has implemente­d many programmes for orphans, which included educationa­l activities, health checkups, vocational training, camps, cultural trips, and handicraft workshops, benefiting nearly 1,000 orphans within two months.

Welfare Department at QC, said, “Within the past two months, Qatar Charity has organised around seven programmes for orphans studying at the elementary, preparator­y and secondary schools, with the aim of building a capable

Indonesian generation.”

The orphans also celebrated the Qatar National Day in Indonesia. More than 250 children participat­ed in many cultural and poetry competitio­ns organised on this occasion.

With sponsoring more than 14,000 orphans in Sudan, some 15,700 orphans in the Gaza Strip, and nearly 5,142 orphans in Indonesia, currently, QC sponsors 163,470 orphans worldwide under its “Rofaqa” initiative, aiming to raise the number to 200,000 children in 2020.
