Qatar Airways flies back 436 citizens from Jordanian capital

-

As part of Qatar’s efforts to bring back its citizens from abroad, Hamad International Airport received two special flights of Qatar Airways from the Jordanian capital Amman, carrying 436 citizens and children of Qatari mothers.

“They were in Jordan for treatment, study or tourism before flights were stopped there due to a lockdown linked to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) official Mubarak al-Kuwari told Qatar Television.

“According to the procedures followed in the country to limit the spread of the virus, all returnees will be subjected to quarantine in the designated places,” he explained.

The procedure in this regard is very simple, according to the MoFA official. When a citizen arrives from abroad he will be greeted by a dedicated team from the MoFA and examined by the medical staff of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), following which he will be directed to the assigned hotel for a 14-day quarantine.

Precautionary health measures were taken for the safety of all those on board the flights under the supervision of medical staff waiting inside the airport in the clinics designated by the MoPH.

The Hamad International Airport Security Administration actively collaborated and co-operated in processing the return of the citizens to Qatar by adopting a high level of precautionary measures, said Lt Radi al-Hajri.

Five pathways were provided for travellers from Jordan with safe distances between them as they passed through the arrivals for the procedures of the MoPH as well as at the passports counters.

At the exit gate, modern buses were kept ready to transport the returning citizens to the hotels where they will spend the quarantine period under medical care and health observation. Once at the hotel a specialised and trained medical team conducted the examination procedures for all the quarantine guests and recorded their personal and health information before transferring them to the assigned rooms, Qatar TV added.
