Kuwait reports 851 virus cases

Kuwait’s Ministry of Health announced yesterday, 851 new infections of the coronaviru­s (Covid-19), raising the total to 27,043.

Deaths reached 212 with the addition of seven fatalities.

Spokespers­on for the ministry, Dr Abdullah al-Sanad said at a press conference that currently, there are 200 patients receiving medical care at intensive care wards. Meanwhile, the health authoritie­s in Kuwait conducted 3,349 swabs, in the past 24 hours, raising whole count of such tests to 293,362, Dr al-Sanad added.

Earlier, Health Minister Dr Basel al-Sabah announced the recovery of 1,230 people from Covid-19, bringing the tally to 11,386.

OMAN SEES 1,014 NEW INFECTIONS The Ministry of Health in Oman yesterday reported 1,014 new cases of infection with the novel coronaviru­s (Covid-19), including 371 Omanis, and 643 non-Omanis, QNA reported from Muscat.

With this, the total number of cases registered in the Sultanate now stands at 11,437, including 2,396 recoveries and 47 deaths.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi, the largest member of the United Arab Emirates federation, announced a one-week ban on traffic to and between its main cities, to be implemente­d from June 2, the local government media office said yesterday, Reuters reported.

Saudi Arabia reopened its mosques more than two months after a shutdown due to the coronaviru­s pandemic, DPA reported. Jubilant worshipper­s headed in large numbers to 90,000 mosques to perform congregati­on prayers.
