Care n Cure Group launches toastmasters club for staffers
Care n Cure Qatar Toastmasters, an exclusive club for the employees of Care n Cure Group, is the first toastmasters club under District 116 in 2020-21 term. This club was officially chartered in July under Division E, led by Sabeena M K, Division E director. CNA-Q Toastmasters and Elite Toastmasters clubs are the sponsoring clubs.
Shana Abdurahiman, club president, said, “Personal growth is necessary. Especially, when you are an employee, it is imperative that you keep working on your skills so that you can learn and advance in your career.” Care n Cure is a dynamic and growing organisation with diversified divisions – Care n Cure Pharmacies, Care n Cure Trading, Al Ghaliya Computer Systems, Carecom, Al Qimma Security Systems, and Hydrocare.
Shana added, “Although we have members from different divisions of the company, about 80% of the members are from the retail and sales departments. More often than not, the growth of the company depends on the communication and leadership skills of the employees. That is where a toastmasters club can prove effective. Employees come out of their shells, build confidence and are able to do justice to their roles in the company; they are able to better serve the customers.”
The club recently held its fourth meeting online with the theme: ‘Dream for Glory’. Abdelrahmane Belhadj, Toastmaster of the Day, who hosted the meeting, spoke about how one must envision success in every project they take up in their lives.
Abdulrahman EP, managing director of Care n Cure Group stated: “Toastmasters International has been a stepping stone for many leaders in the community. I personally had my first public speaking experience through the speech craft coaching conducted by toastmasters many years ago. The experience helped me a lot to get rid of my stage fear and build confidence and has helped me professionally and personally. Apart from the obvious communication and leadership skills development, the clubs also help the members develop their social skills, increase their network, learn meeting management, time management as well as team development. We hope this club will help build confidence in our employees that will translate it into better productivity and personal growth.”
Within a month of its chartering, the club has added new members bringing the strength to 27. Due to varying duty timings and locations, the online meetings have become a convenience. Muhasin Marakkar, vice president Education and deputy general manager of Carecom: said: “Communication is a must for any business. Every employee represents the company and it is important that the organisation trains them to be at their best.”
