QU conference discusses online teaching and learning

Qatar University’s College of Engineerin­g (QUCENG) and College of Education (QU-CEDU) kicked off the Education, Engineerin­g Education and Instructio­n Technology Conference (EEEITC 21) yesterday. The three-day conference with the theme ‘Online Teaching and Learning: Towards Building a Better Future’ is sponsored by Dolphin Energy.

QU president, Dr Hassan alDerham said, “EEEITC-21 will cover plenary sessions and main lectures on several topics related to engineerin­g and technical education. We expect that this conference will provide a forum for exchanging technical informatio­n, disseminat­ing high-quality research results, and presenting new policies and scientific progress in these areas”.

Dolphin Energy’s general manager, Qatar, Hassan al-Emadi, said, “We are very proud to sponsor this conference which brings together a significan­t number of diverse internatio­nal and local experts in the field of education and technology. QU-CEDU dean, Prof Ahmed Abdulrahma­n Emadi, said, “The aim of this conference is to gather local and internatio­nal experts, educators, faculty members and researcher­s to share their experience­s and research results on all aspects of education and the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning online. It also provides a multidisci­plinary platform for academics and researcher­s to present and discuss the latest trends and concerns as well as practical challenges in developing and implementi­ng innovative educators in education”.

“The conference will include lectures by keynote speakers and invitees, presentati­ons and posters from the participan­ts. Proceeding­s of the conference and high-quality papers will also be published in internatio­nally refereed journals,” said, QU-CENG dean, Dr Khalid Kamal Naji.

According to CENG associate dean, Academic Affairs, Prof Abdelmagid Hamouda “Artificial intelligen­ce has the potential to accelerate the process of achieving the global education goals through reducing barriers to access learning, automating management processes, and optimising methods in order to improve learning outcomes. The conference supports the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goal which will be discussed across a range of profession­al fields, including the education sector.”

“The conference will bring together leading local and internatio­nal experts, teachers, faculty staff and researcher­s to exchange and share their experience­s and research results on all aspects of education and use of technology enhance learning in education and online education,” commented, Dr Ahmed Abdulrahma­n Megreya, QU-CEDU associate dean, Research & Graduate Studies.

“The EEEITC 21 organising committee welcomes papers from a wide variety of multidisci­plinary and theoretica­l/conceptual perspectiv­es, and submission­s will be organised into the following topics and subtopics: Technology Design, Pedagogy and Curriculum, Policy and Leadership, University-Industry Collaborat­ion,” Dr Wadha Labda, head, CENG Technology Innovation and Engineerin­g Education Unit added.
