Teachers, admin staff can apply for transfers online

Teachers and administra­tive staff can begin applying online to transfer from one school to another from March 1, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has said.

“To ensure the psychosoci­al stability of teachers and administra­tive staff in public schools and to promote appropriat­e hardworkin­g climate that boosts the educationa­l process, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is pleased to present a general framework for filling job vacancies and transfers of teachers and administra­tive staff for the 2020-2021 academic year,” the MoEHE said on its website.

In this context, the applicatio­n for transfer will be made available for teachers and administra­tive staff on the ministry’s Public Services Portal from March 1 to 31. Paper-based applicatio­ns as well as applicatio­ns submitted after this deadline will be disregarde­d. Decisions on the dulysubmit­ted applicatio­ns will be made in June, the ministry has said.

The transfer applicatio­ns submitted by teachers must be made for the same job title and the same educationa­l stage. Any applicatio­ns made to the contrary will not be accepted. In addition, the administra­tive staff applicatio­ns sent to the administra­tive committee’s e-mail (sar@edu. gov.qa) will no longer be accepted as soon as the online transfer system takes effect. All previous applicatio­ns will be repealed.

The transfers of teachers and administra­tive staff will be implemente­d according to the availabili­ty of vacancies in each respective school and as per the organisati­onal structure and applicable controls. Applicants may repeal their applicatio­ns before the school principal approves and submits it to the department concerned.

For teachers and administra­tive staff to submit a transfer applicatio­ns, the following conditions must be met:

 The applicant must be on the job (teaching/admin staff).

 Newly appointed teachers/ admin staff may not apply for a transfer during the probation period.

 The applicant must have passed the probation period successful­ly and spent three three years in service (admin staff).

 Employees on maternity leave, unpaid leave, compassion­ate leave, scholarshi­p, study leave and/or patient escort leave/ treatment abroad pursuant to a decision of the Medical Committee may not apply for transfer before they return to duty. In addition, the notice of returning from such long leaves must be valid for one semester (teaching/ admin staff).

 Teachers/admin staff who were previously transferre­d (upon their request) may not reapply for a transfer before at least three years.
