Jordan-Qatar bilateral relations hailed
Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Dr Ayman Safadi, said relations between Qatar and his country are excellent and there are broad areas for co-operation and continuous co-ordination on regional issues.
In a press statement, Safadi confirmed that his recent visit to Qatar was fruitful, stressing the need to build on the directives and visions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of Jordan, to develop relations between the two countries. The visit constituted an opportunity to review all aspects of co-operation, he said. Safadi pointed out that Qatar is on the verge of organising the FIFA World Cup 2022, a major and unprecedented international event in the region. He stressed his country was ready to provide all support. Jordanian-Gulf relations are well established in various fields, he said reiterating Jordan’s welcome of the Gulf reconciliation, which contributes to taking joint Arab positions towards challenges facing the Arab region. Safadi highlighted Jordan’s support for international efforts towards global disarmament, namely nuclear weapons and weapons of destruction.
In a pre-recorded speech to the Conference on Disarmament held in Geneva yesterday, Safadi said Jordan supports efforts aimed at achieving tangible results for the conference’s common goal of disarmament of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.
