MES organises intra-class debate

To encourage critical thinking, better poise, speech delivery and oratory skills among students, the department of English, Girls’ Section at MES Indian School recently organised an intraclass debate for students of grade V and VI on a virtual platform.

MES principal Hameeda Kadar was the chief guest.

The moderator Sehla Kabeer announced the rules and regulation­s to the eight participan­ts.

Four students from each team debated in favour and against the motion, ‘Animals Should Enjoy the Same Rights as Humans.’ The participan­ts with great poise convinced the audience with statistica­l analysis of data in support of their claims. Aesha Fathima Basheer and Meherin Hafis were declared the best speakers of the debate. The best runners up were Sheba Rebin M V and Bhavya Biju. Arpitha Prasanth bagged the best speaker title of the competitio­n. Winners and participan­ts of the competitio­n were awarded e-certificat­es.

The competitio­n provided a great experience for the participan­ts as well as the audience.

Chandra Lekha, Rema Devi and Shiny Suresh were the judges for the debate.

Angeline James proposed a vote of thanks and Devananda was the host for the event.
