QRCS, Humanitarian Forum to strengthen ties with joint projects
Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Humanitarian Forum, a network of key humanitarian and development organisations, are set to further strengthen their ties by implementing joint projects in various countries across the globe.
QRCS secretary-general Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi met with a delegation from the Forum yesterday (October 17), led by its president Dr Hany al-Banna and Development and International Relations director Adnan Hafez.
The meeting was attended by Faisal Mohamed alEmadi, executive director of Relief and International Development Division; and Dr Fawzi Oussedik, head of International Relations and International Humanitarian Law.
“It is a close bond that links QRCS and the Humanitarian Forum,” said alHammadi.
“We have many years of collaboration on training, educational workshops, and conferences. We also worked together on several projects, such as the Adahi Project. They took part in distributing sacrifice meat in many countries”.
He welcomed new ideas that can open up new horizons of joint action, in order to reach out to more poor people around the world.
Dr al-Banna commended QRCS’ local and international roles and expressed happiness with the deeprooted bilateral relations, as both sides shared the same mission and goals.
He cited some conferences and events that the two parties co-organised, notably the World Humanitarian Summit in Turkey.
“The role of the Humanitarian Forum is to mobilise Arab and Muslim institutions,” Dr al-Banna explained.
“It complements the efforts of National Societies and organisations concerned with humanitarian/ charitable work”.
At the end of the meeting, they outlined some recommendations and suggestions for more joint operations in many countries, with a view to making a difference and creating livelihoods for those in need.
