Big Boot set to be unveiled at expo in Katara today

The “world’s largest football boot” exhibition will be unveiled today at 6.30pm, the organisers have announced.

Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal will be the chief guest at the event organised by Focus Internatio­nal, a leading youth organisati­on, in associatio­n with Katara Public Diplomacy Centre. Katara the Cultural Village Foundation general manager Prof Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim alSulaiti, Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) president P N Baburajan, CEO of Katara Public Diplomacy Centre and Global Public Diplomacy Network secretary-general Darwish Ahmed al-Shaibani, Guinness World Record holder and curator of the Big Boot M Dileef, Focus Internatio­nal CEO Shameer Valiyaveet­til and other prominent guests from different socio-cultural sectors will attend the event.

The exhibition is aiming to express solidarity with Qatar’s efforts to highlight football as a sport that brings people and nations together. The organisers also said the exhibition “sets a new saga in the tradition of IndoArab and internatio­nal cultural exchange”. The boot is designed by artist and curator Dileef. The Big Boot is made of leather, fiber, resin, foam sheet and acrylic sheet, and is 17ft long and 7ft high. The design work of the made-in-India boot was completed in Qatar.

The main sponsors of the exhibition are ICC, La Cigale Hotel, iMax Gold, Reyada Medical Centre, NBK Tours and Travels, and Radio Suno.
