Culture minister reviews Darb Al Saai readiness for QND celebration events

HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani, the Minister of Culture and chairman of the Organising Committee for Qatar National Day (QND) Celebrations, conducted an inspection tour yesterday evening at the permanent headquarters of Darb Al Saai at Umm Salal Mohamed to review its readiness to host more than 4,500 heritage and culture activities from Nov 25 to Dec 18, under the slogan ‘Our Unity is the Source of Our Strength’.

Accompanied by the chief editors of the local dailies and event organisers’ he reviewed the preparations at the 150,000sq m venue and expressed satisfaction about the progress of work and the efforts exerted to receive citizens, expatriates and visitors during the National Day celebrations.

HE Sheikh Abdulrahman highlighted the wide array of heritage events prepared by the Ministry of Culture as part of the National Day celebrations at Darb Al Saai. These include cultural activities, literary and intellectual forums, poetry sessions, and theatrical shows and performances, aiming at focusing on the original Qatari, Arab and Islamic heritage and culture, and taking pride in the national identity, besides promoting the values of the national day and enhancing loyalty and affiliation to the nation for all.

He also highly appreciated all the efforts exerted to make the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 a success and reiterated that Qatar will succeed in producing the best ever World Cup edition, amazing the whole world.

The new headquarters of Darb Al Saai at Umm Salal Mohamed has a distinctive and authentic heritage design and qualities of modern architecture. The new site is easily accessible through three main routes, in addition to Doha Metro through the Green Line Al Rayyan Al Qadeem (Old) Station. It has enough parking lots for around 3,500 vehicles at a square linked to seven main gates and five other service gates. The venue is equipped with a number main display screens to cast some of the events. The place hosts all the necessary services and utilities to make it convenient and accessible for the public.
