Municipali­ty minister inspects new cleaning vehicles and waste transfer stations

HE the Minister of Municipali­ty Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie inspected yesterday the new vehicles and cleaning machinerie­s that joined the ministry’s fleet as part of the preparatio­ns for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. During the inspection tour, HE al-Subaie was briefed on the readiness of the General Services Affairs Sector to perform the required tasks and works in the field of hygiene and collecting and sorting and recycling waste, which contribute­s to achieving the goals of the State of Qatar by organising an environmen­tally friendly tournament. HE the minister also inspected the transfer stations at South Doha, which was designated for waste generated from the World Cup activities. It has a capacity of about 1,300 tonnes per day, and is equipped with a primary sorting system for recyclable materials and turn it into recycling plants. The inspection tour included a visit to the mobile station in Al Thumama area, which is designated for waste in the World Cup stadium Stadium 974, as HE al-Subaie was briefed on the workflow of the station to which the waste is transporte­d, compacted and then transporte­d to the Waste Treatment Centre in Mesaieed. The Ministry of Municipali­ty has recently strengthen­ed the cleaning fleet with 110 new cars and machinerie­s equipped with the latest technologi­es and multi-use in cleaning streets, roads and public squares, waste collection and lifting, automatic sweeping, container washing and spraying and sterilisat­ion.
