Two days left for World Cup kick-off
Just two days remain for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 – the first to be held in the Middle East and Arab world – as the whole of Qatar eagerly awaits Sunday’s kick-off when hosts take on Ecuador in the opening game at Al Bayt Stadium.
Heavyweights landed for the mega event, with Germany, Argentina and Poland being the latest teams to touch down in Qatar yesterday.
With today and tomorrow being a weekend, people from all walks of life in Qatar are stepping out to check all the arrangements for the football carnival. Fans from all around the world too have started pouring in to Qatar as the country braces up to host the most compact and unique World Cup ever.
Argentina captain Lionel Messi was greeted with Indian drums as the diehard fans waited for the superstar’s arrival. Members of the Argentina Fans in
Qatar club, who claim more than 5,000 members, brought drums decorated with “Leo” Messi’s portrait to the team base at Qatar University.
Over the next two days the remaining teams will reach Qatar, with perennial favourites Brazil’s arrival awaited with bated breath.
