Zeeenah beautifies Qatar via community participation
The Zeeenah initiative stands out as a promoter of community participation in organising an exceptional edition of the World Cup that will remain memorable in the minds of everyone, based on a vision that brings together all members and institutions of the community, and a belief in their role and participation in celebrating Qatar and its hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022,
The initiative that works to beautify and decorate the facades of workplaces, schools, universities and real estate, in addition to squares, roads and other public services, was launched in June by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Culture, Qatar Museums (QM), and the Central Municipal Council (CMC).
Zeeenah seeks to highlight the festive manifestations in various parts of the country in preparation for hosting the World Cup and encourage government and private entities, municipalities and community members to express their celebration, in addition to marketing the big event, in line with Qatar’s efforts to provide the best festive image to welcome visitors.
The initiative contributes to highlighting and raising Qatar’s image before visitors, which is the responsibility of various government institutions, citizens and residents.
The initiative is comprised of two main axes: the first is the participation of all individuals, citizens and residents, to decorate their facilities or residential units, and the second is a competition for three categories in the country to decorate its facilities in a way that reflects the sporting event.
Participants in the initiative will be able to apply in different categories, including government and private entities, schools, universities, kindergartens, and municipalities, while the winners of the first three places for schools and kindergartens for each of the following age groups (kindergarten, primary, preparatory, and secondary) will receive financial prizes.
For citizens and residents, they can contribute by decorating their homes, with photos of their participation in this event to be displayed through dedicated platforms and electronic certificates, and their contributions documented as a legacy of this event.
For government, private entities and municipalities, they will be honoured with certificates and commemorative shields, and their contributions will be documented as a legacy of this event.
Initial ideas and contributions to the initiative started arriving in July and August.
The final image was received after implementation in October, and the implementation of the works completed, with the final image delivered, by the end of the month.
Entries by citizens and residents for participation were accepted until Thursday.
The organisers of the initiative set conditions for the decoration of the facades of buildings, fences, external areas and all facilities, through the implementation of artwork, drawings, cosmetic lighting and other decorative works, as the use the logos of the World Cup, or logos representing famous brands, is prohibited.
The jury, which will evaluate the contributions and participations in the initiative, includes members from each of the participating entities: Ashghal, the SC, the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Culture, the QM, and the CMC.
The suitability of the participating models will be assessed against the competition criteria, and the winners will be announced in January.
