PM inaugurate­s Panda House; public viewing 10am to 6pm

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani inaugurate­d yesterday Panda House in Al Khor. HE Sheikh Khalid was briefed on all the facilities available to visitors, particular­ly FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 guests, the official Qatar News Agency reported. HE the Prime Minister was also briefed on sustainabi­lity and the technology used to provide a suitable environmen­t to the pandas, in line with the Global Sustainabi­lity Assessment System (GSAS), in addition to the standards adopted to conserve energy and the environmen­t. HE the Prime Minister was accompanie­d by a number of ministers, the Chinese ambassador to Qatar, and ranking officials from the Ministry of Municipali­ty and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal). Meanwhile, the Ministry of Municipali­ty has invited the public to visit Panda House and enjoy watching the two giant pandas – Suhail and Thuraya. Qatar became the first country in the Middle East to have giant pandas, and the 20th in the world, when Suhail and Thuraya arrived in the country in October. They will now be available for public viewing after the conclusion of the quarantine period. Visiting hours at Panda House will be open from 10am to 6pm. Currently, tickets can be booked only through the Oun applicatio­n. Ticket prices, according to the app, are QR50 for adults and QR25 for individual­s under 14 years. The ticket is not refundable and is valid for one day only.
