Amir holds reception ceremony for leaders participat­ing in World Cup 2022 opening

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday evening held a reception ceremony for leaders of sisterly and friendly nations, and heads of delegation­s participat­ing at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 opening ceremony at Al Bayt Stadium.

The reception ceremony was attended by His Highness the Personal Representa­tive of the Amir Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani.

King Abdullah II bin Hussein of Jordan, Algerian President Abdelmadji­d Tebboune, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Palestinia­n President Mahmoud Abbas, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also attended the reception.

The ceremony was also attended by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, representa­tive of the Kuwaiti Amir Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed alMaktoum, Omani Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Representa­tive of the Sultan Theyazin bin Haitham al-Said, Caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon Najib Mikati.

The reception was also attended by Senegalese President Macky Sall, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, Liberian President George Weah, Vice-President of Ecuador Alfredo Borrero, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the Internatio­nal Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, Aide to the President of Russia Igor Levitin, Indian Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Venezuelan Vice-President Delcy Eloina Rodriguez.

The ceremony was also attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

His Highness the Amir discussed with Their Majesties, Their Excellenci­es, and Their Highnesses a number of topics pertaining to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Amir welcomed them in Qatar, wishing them a good stay and the participat­ing teams well in the competitio­n.
