Qatari Forum for Authors launches ‘Sports Excerpts’
The Qatari Forum for Authors launched the ‘Sports Excerpts’ event in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The event sheds light on the most important sports books in the Qatari library.
The first session hosted writer Ali Youssef al-Mahmoud, who reviewed the content of his book Qatar and Sports issued in 2021.
Al-Mahmoud said that the book deals with the country’s interest in sports and the extent of its impact on other interrelated aspects of life, pointing out that sport is not just a game of physical activity, but has become science and culture, and it is intertwined with health, education, and tourism.
The opinion of HE Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah was reviewed in the book, where he said that Qatar National Vision 2030 reflects the extent of attention that the state attaches to comprehensive development issues, and the development of the sports sector is among its top priorities, because sport is the train of development. Also, included in the book is a statement by HE the Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, who confirmed the growing awareness of sports and its lofty goals.
The author of the book touched on the importance of the National Sport Day, which reminds everyone of the importance of sport, pointing out that Qatar has become a destination for sports and has opened bridges of communication between different cultures on its land through the sporting events that it hosts and organises.
