Shura welcomes visiting parliamentary dignitaries
HE the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr Hamda bint Hassan al-Sulaiti met yesterday with several Speakers of parliamentary councils and parliamentary officials, who are visiting the country to attend FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 events.
The meeting included Speaker of the House of Representatives of Djibouti Mohamed Ali Hamad, Vice-Speaker of the Moroccan House of Advisors Fouad Kadiri, Chief of Staff of the Speaker of the House of Advisors of Morocco Zakaria El Hanini, Secretary-General for Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Fayez al-Shawabkeh and Secretary-General of the Moroccan House of Representatives Najib El Khadi.
At the onset of the meeting, HE the deputy Speaker welcomed the guests of the country wishing them a pleasant stay, expressing her thanks for their participation in this global sporting demonstration, which among its numerous goals, seeks to bring the people together and deepen the bonds of fraternity and friendship.
For their part, the guests expressed their pleasure in participating and their fascination and admiration for the tournament’s meticulous organisation, along with the preparations they witnessed on the ground to embrace the tournament, extending their thanks to Qatar government and people - for the warm welcome, good reception and generous hospitality, lauding the renaissance being witnessed by Qatar, wishing the country further success in this hosting.
During the meeting, they discussed a range of topics pertaining to the Arab parliamentary action and ways to strengthen parliamentary relations. The meeting was attended by Badi bin Ali al-Badi, Ahmad bin Ebrahim al-Malki, Khalid bin Abas al-Emadi, Yousef bin Ahmed al-Sada, Mubarak bin Mohamed al-Kuwari, Nasser bin Metrif alHemeidi, Nasser bin Hassan alKubaisi, members of the Shura Council. On the sidelines of the meeting, the guests toured the building of the Shura Council and Tamim bin Hamad Hall, where they got briefed on the Council’s work mechanisms and the stateof-the-art technologies utilised in conducting the works of sessions and committees.
