The number of users reached 650,881 passengers on Tuesday and 625,497 passengers on Wednesday, with Lusail QNB, DECC and Souq Waqif topping the list of most-used stations on both days.

With regard to Lusail Tram, the number of users on the first day reached 21,906 passengers, followed by 21,187 on the second day, 23,291 on the third day and 25,335 passengers on Wednesday.

Since the launch of the tournament, Doha Metro and Lusail Tram have contributed to facilitating the transportation of fans between various stadiums and events areas.

Overall, Qatar’s public transport system continues to play a pivotal role in ferrying fans and ensuring easy access to stadiums and tourism destinations during the ongoing tournament.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Transport (MoT), a total of 10,003 public bus trips were conducted while transporting 181,210 passengers on Wednesday, the fourth day of the World Cup.

Bus services connect various metro stations and certain points in Doha and the World Cup stadiums. Also, buses are operated to stadiums and other tourist spots from the Doha International Airport (DIA) and Hamad International Airport (HIA).

Mowasalat (Karwa) has deployed vehicles that meet the transport needs of the fans arriving at the DIA and HIA. The company has intensified its operations for the World Cup while mobilising its fleet with specialised technical teams to ensure a comfortable and smooth transportation experience for the tournament.

About 4,000 buses are being operated during the tournament, of which about 3,000 are dedicated to transporting fans. A total of 25% of the total buses are electric, as part of MoT’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. “Public ebuses reduce carbon emissions to what could equal the plantation of 471,246 trees a year,” the MoT said.

The airports saw a huge flow of passengers with 853 air movements recorded at both HIA and DIA on Wednesday.
