Best Buddies Challenge Qatar 2022 next month

-

In the FIFA World Cup spirit of sustainability and inclusion, Qatar Creates, in partnership with Best Buddies Qatar and the Qatar Cycling Federation, sponsored by the Qatar Investment Authority, will host the Best Buddies Challenge Qatar 2022, a disabilities awareness and fundraising cycling event, on December 15.

Taking place at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall, the two-phased cycling event will gather proceeds to be donated to Al Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities, a statement explained yesterday.

Supported by HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Best Buddies aligns itself with global cycling meets where professional cyclers and local enthusiasts unite to race towards a common goal.

Beginning at 7am, the event will feature two competitions: a 60km ticketed race open to the local cycling community and the public, and a 5km race with the exclusive participation of celebrities and VIPs.

Commenting on the event, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa said: “In this momentous year, we are delighted to bring the Best Buddies cycling event to Qatar to raise valuable funds and reinforce our commitment to the inclusion and well-being of people living with disabilities across the country.”

“As a community, we are committed to improving the lives of people living with disabilities, and continue to seek meaningful ways to engage in this important conversation through new spaces for dialogue and support for the incredible work of organisations such as Al Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities,” she said.

“Best Buddies is incredibly honoured to partner with Qatar Creates, the Qatar Investment Authority and Qatar Cycling Federation to host the organisation’s inaugural Best Buddies Challenge: Qatar in partnership with our friends from Shafallah,” said Anthony Kennedy Shriver, founder, chairman, and chief executive of Best Buddies International.

Registration for Best Buddies tickets opens on November 24 and can be purchased exclusively on the Best Buddies Challenge Qatar website.

Local and international audiences can also enrich their cultural experience during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with the One Pass.
