Qatar elected for membership of Executive Council of OPCW
Qatar has been elected for the membership of the Executive Council of the Organisation of the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) during the 27th session of the Conference of the States Parties currently being convened in The Hague. Such a step reflects the confidence of the international community, along with the international organisations in the constructive role undertaken by Qatar in discharging the functions of The Hague-based organisation. In addition, the executive council which is composed of 41 members undertakes and executes the decisions and supervises the activities of the technical Secretariat of the organisation, as well as its responsibility for strengthening the effective implementation of OPCW and compliance.
