Big turnout at Darb Al Saai Market where antiquity meets modernity

-

Darb Al Saai Market is witnessing a great turnout on a daily basis as it presents a mix of the antiquity of the past and the modernity of the present.

The participating shops in the market have adopted old heritage-related names of deep meaning in the Qatari society and provide various services and activities in a popular atmosphere that attracts the masses.

Productive families who worked on the manufacture of local products are participating in the market, where they display their products through this authentic ally designed platform, which resembles a mini version of Souq Waqif.

The market is located at the entrance of Darb Al Saai, and its proximity to the entrance was taken into account to be in full view of the masses.

The market contains a variety of goods, including traditional women’s clothing, as well as children’s clothing that has been professionally designed in bright colours, most of which in maroon and white — the colours of the Qatari flag.

The market also contains another collection of shops that present a part of the Qatari heritage, including the coffee shop that prepares Arabic coffee and offer it to the public and visitors of Darb Al Saai.

Qatar’s guests will also be introduced to methods of making Arabic coffee as it has seen a great demand from the masses and visitors of the venue.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Deputy Director of the Qatar Photography Center Ahmed al-Ansari referred to the centre’s participation in the venue, saying that it provides various events, including the studio located in Darb Al Saai.

Al-Ansari explained that the centre’s main activity is to photograph the public — men, women and children, in traditional Qatari clothes, in addition to photographing them in front of a background that symbolises the traditional Qatari house.(QNA)
